I heard on the radio the other day that Slash and Velvet Revolver released a press release that they’re splitting with often unreliable Scott Weiland. Too bad too, because Weiland is a talented singer and Velvet Revolver a decent band. I think they’re supposed to be on tour now, so hopefully nobody gets stuck with tickets they paid for. I just check out their official site and they have a news bit about the split. From the post:
Velvet Revolver founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either,†said Slash. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on.
Too bad. Hopefully VR can find another good singer to move on with. Good luck fellas!

This time its not great. According to a news article I saw over at RollingStone.com, Scott Weiland entered a rehab facility following their show last Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Apparently it was done voluntarily, which is always good. Messy when courts get involved. Their show on the 8th in San Diego was also cancelled and it looks like the rest of the tour could be in jeopardy. I’m not sure if this will affect any rumored Stone Temple Pilots reunion tour this coming summer, but I for one hope it doesn’t. I’d really like to see these guys come out for a show in Massachusetts. Anyway, Scott, get well and we hope to see you back on stage soon!

I just saw over on StubHub.comthat Velvet Revolver has a few show dates out on the west coast. More interesting though, is that I heard on the radio here in Massachusetts the other day that Scott Weiland will be heading back into the studio with the rest of the band to record a new album this year. I also heard in the same radio spot (and I haven’t found any corroboration of this online) is that Scott Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots might be getting together for some reunion dates this summer. If so, that’d be way cool. I’d definitely look into seeing them if they come to our area.
I do have a listing of the Velvet Revolver show dates here if you’re on the west coast and are interested in seeing them live before they head back into the studio.
